We all can agree that working 8 hours a day and 5 days a week can take a toll on the overall health especially if your work involves sitting in front of the computer for a long time. Right from eye strains to neck tension to gaining the extra calories, it is actually a task to stay healthy and fit in a busy work schedule.

To help you stay healthy we have compiled a list of 5 easy things:
1. Say No to Casual Snacking

It might seem normal to try just one piece of sweet or spicy snack in the mid-afternoon or late evening but giving into temptations every day will leave you with unwanted pounds if you are not careful. A better option would be to carry some fruits or salad with you to break the urge of snacking.

2. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate

Drinking an adequate amount of water, approximately 8 to 10 glasses every day will help you stay hydrated. You can also alternate with fruits like apples, watermelon, and oranges that are rich sources of water and taste equally refreshing.

3. Exercise

It is 100% true when it is said that there are no free lunches. You need to work and sweat for it. The sure shot way of staying healthy and in shape is to exercise. If it is difficult for you to take time out in the morning, try baby steps by taking a short walk after lunch. Use the stairs instead of the elevator and give yourself power breaks after every one to two hours.

4. Relieve the Muscle Tension

Muscle tension can occur when your neck and the upper shoulders are in a fixed awkward position for long periods of time. Make sure to rotate your neck and shoulders and relieve the tension for combating chronic pains in future.

5. De-strain Your Eyes

Eyestrain is another problem faced by people working in front of a computer. It causes headaches, light sensitivity, and difficulty in focusing. The best way to prevent eye strain is to keep the screen at an arm's length.

The best way to stay healthy at work is to know your limits and do your best to stay within those limits. Keep a check on when to take breaks and when to opt for some time off. All work no play makes jack a dull boy.
